Mighty Banyans?
Might Be A SCAM, MAN
Buyer Beware
Is someone from Florida trying to sell you a timeshare and/or spot on the New College of Florida’s athletic team roster?
Does the offer seem too good to be true?
Questions to ask:
Will I have to pay for my own uniform or sports equipment?
How long will I have be on a bus each day to off-campus practice facilities?
How many trips of over 1,000 miles will we have to play?
Will I be asked to give blood to get a $20 donation for the athletics program and/or President Corcoran’s salary?
Really. This happens:
New College is currently paying its president, former Florida Speaker of the House Richard Corcoran, an annual salary of over One Million Dollars while the athletics program is operating on a shoestring.

Another question: Are the coaches qualified?
Specifically, before they became head coach at the brand-new New College intercollegiate program, how many years have they been
employed full-time,
as a head coach,
by a college or university?
For the men’s soccer coach, the answer that meets all 3 criteria is two years!
For everyone else, this is apparently zero.
Not that the men’s soccer coach is a pillar of competence:
Note:If you hear/see “college-level” then ask follow-ups, that may be high school; if they say “years as head coach” clarify “at a college, not as high school coach?”; if they say years at a college, clarify as head coach or — amazing — employed full-tie and not volunteer of graduate student.)
Also MLM warning: Do not buy cosmetics or financial products from a New College coach (or their wife).
